Home to the Hill
Mavericks and Red Devils came together on the Hill for an action-packed Reunion Weekend. Organized by MSA’s new Alumni Coordinator, Patton Usry (class of ‘09), the weekend was one of the most successful and robust in school history.
It began on Friday night with an opening reception in the foyer of Old Main and a formal dinner in the dining hall. MSA’s Dean of Students Danny Manuel (class of ‘06) spoke about his time as a student and his current work as a coach and administrator.
Mr. Manuel was an exemplary student-athlete. He returned to MSA after earning a Masters degree in organizational leadership and has worked as director of the boys dormitory, head basketball coach, and now as Dean of Students.
On Saturday, MSA’s Head of School Michael Drude gave the Annual State of the School address. It highlighted the success MSA is currently having due to the remarkable history and culture of the school.
Alumni then had time to explore campus, reconnect with old friends, and ride or hike MSA’s 16-miles of trails.
On Saturday evening, everyone enjoyed games and BBQ before dancing the night away to cover songs from the 60’s with the live band Full Plate.
It was a magical weekend on the Hill and a wonderful opportunity for alumni to reconnect with classmates and their alma mater. Keep an eye on the Miller School Alumni Webpage, and find "Alumni of the Miller School of Albemarle" on Facebook to stay up to date on alumni news. Start planning to join in for #HometotheHill2020!
