  • Miller School of Albemarle seeks an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Spanish teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-2027 school year. The position requires the flexibility to teach all levels of Spanish, including AP Spanish if there is student interest. We are looking for someone versatile, as well as comfortable teaching a wide range of courses and grade levels. The candidate should demonstrate a willingness to work as a team player and take on an active role in the vibrant Miller School community. A candidate should be inspired by the mission of Miller School and embrace the opportunity to be an example of our  “mind, hands, and heart” philosophy for our students. 

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • A bachelor’s degree in Spanish is required; a postgraduate degree is a plus. 

    • Experience teaching all levels of Spanish; AP experience is a plus but not required. 

    • The ability to teach French or another world language is desirable but not required. 

    • A passion for working with young people, coupled with a commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners. 

    • Relevant athletic or cocurricular experience that will contribute meaningfully to MSA’s after-school programming.

    • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

     Outside the classroom, the position includes two seasons of coaching a sport and/or leading a co-curricular activity, acting as an advisor to a group of 7-9 students, and serving on a supervisory duty team.

  • The Miller School of Albemarle is recruiting a pool of qualified substitute teachers. Substitute teachers provide instructional support and classroom management when the regular teacher is absent.

    The primary responsibility of a substitute teacher is to implement the lesson plans left by the absent teacher and help to guide students in the successful completion of their daily assignments. Substitute teachers will also be responsible for reporting attendance, and meeting with the classroom teacher’s advisory group during assembly and lunch.

    The ideal candidate should have a desire to work with students in different grade levels and in a variety of subject areas. The ability to clearly communicate with students and establish an effective classroom environment are essential. A background in education is desired, but not required.
