Class of 2022
The class of 2022 walked proudly across the Bull Ring on Saturday, May 26 to conclude their journey as Miller School of Albemarle students. Families and friends from around the world attended graduation, and they were treated to an ideal morning.
Class of 2022 Valedictorian Zoey Van Peppen remarked about her experience at MSA: “Before my two years at Miller, I had no idea what “being myself” entailed. I had a hazy definition of who I would become that shifted towards clarity with each opportunity I received. Through taking these as chances to learn, both the difficulty and joy found from memorizing my lines as the lead in a musical, founding a mental health coalition, and serving on student government each became steps towards my discovery of self that I will cherish. To all graduates: we are perhaps the most resilient class- use each of your own difficulties and joys to find who you are and who you will be.”
MSA is a small school where teachers and students have dynamic interactions on a daily basis. Whether in the classroom, in the dorm, or on the playing fields, teachers learn the strengths of each student. This can be felt during graduation when advisors read citations for each graduating senior. Additionally, the seniors unveiled their class plaque, which will be displayed on Old Main along with class plaques from MSA’s other graduation classes.
Head of School, Mike Drude, remarked: “The class of 2022 is a special group and will surely be missed. They made positive impacts on the Miller School all year. This class is full of compassionate leaders who care for one another and their greater community. I appreciate this group's academic excellence and service and for genuinely living and expressing Miller’s mission daily. I know the faculty joins me in wishing them all the best in their future endeavors in college and beyond!”
