Listen to an inspiring CBS Sports Podcast with Coach Billy Wagner interviewed by Jonah Keri.

MSA's head baseball coach, Billy Wagner, is a former Major League Baseball relief pitcher. His nickname when playing professionally was "Billy the Kid." During his fifteen-year career, Wagner accumulated over 400 saves as a relief pitcher. He is one of only six Major League pitchers in history to do this and is widely regarded as one of the greatest relief pitchers in MLB history.

Since retiring from the Major Leagues, he has turned his focus and energy to coaching the next generation of baseball players at the Miller School of Albemarle. Last season, he led the Mavericks to victory in state championships, and he sent numerous graduating players to Division I college baseball programs.

Jonah Kerri is a New York Times best-selling author and a highly regarded podcaster and journalist. His CBS podcasts feature long-form, sit-down interviews. His guests have included professional athletes, actors, authors, and even the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.

Enjoy getting to know Coach Wagner and learning about his vision for the MSA baseball program--a vision that provides opportunities for discovery and reflection while playing America's favorite pastime.
