Mr. O is a Charlottesville native, and a graduate of the Peabody School and MESA program at Albemarle High School. He was an active member of FIRST Robotics team 619 for 4 years, and an avid potter.

Mr. O attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Industrial Design. He interned at Ethan Abramson, a custom fabrication company based in Mamaroneck NY. There he was a fabricator, installer, and designer, and helped launch several furniture lines. He ran the woodshop program at Camp Winadu, a 7-week sleepaway-camp nestled in the Berkshire mountains of western Massachusetts.

After graduating, Mr. O moved to Brooklyn where he worked for Tri-Lox, a sustainable millworks and fabrication company based in Greenpoint. Through his time there he was a fabricator and production manager, and ran product development, R&D, and quality control. He was critical in the development and execution of an urban salvage pilot project, which took trees removed from construction and resiliency sites and processed them into high grade material for use on projects and products in NYC. Notable projects he managed and helped fabricate are the Delacorte Theater facade renovations, the McCarren Park Parkhouse, and the NEST playscape located in Long Island City.

A practicing designer, he owns and operates a small design and build company, completing custom work and small batch manufacturing for clients in NYC and Charlottesville.

Outside the classroom, he enjoys cars, rock climbing, reading, weight lifting, and spending time with his family and godchildren.
