Originally from New Mexico, Mariah earned a BS in Education from New Mexico State University and did her Masters work in Science Education at UMASS Amherst. With over 20 years of classroom experience, Mariah holds teaching certifications in New Mexico, Oklahoma, California, and Virginia, with endorsements in elementary education, technology education, chemistry, biological sciences, physical sciences, and earth sciences. 

Before joining the Miller School as a science teacher, Mariah worked most recently as the Sr. Education Specialist at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Charlottesville, where she developed and implemented STEAM outreach programs focused on astronomy.

Outside of teaching, Mariah enjoys spending time with her two kids, McCall a recent UVA graduate and Grace-Anne a future teacher studying at UCO, and their menagerie of misfit pets,
