Joel Albritton joined the Miller School of Albemarle after graduating from the University of Mary Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. While at Mary Washington, Joel balanced his academic studies with collegiate athletics, playing soccer. His experience as a student-athlete shaped his approach to education and coaching—emphasizing discipline, collaboration, and a growth mindset.
At MSA, Joel teaches Spanish across multiple levels, designing interactive lessons that bring language and culture to life. He integrates technology and creativity into his classroom, helping students build confidence in speaking, reading, and writing while exploring the diverse traditions of the Spanish-speaking world. As a soccer coach, Joel fosters a competitive yet supportive team environment, encouraging student-athletes to develop both technical skills and leadership qualities.
Beyond the classroom and the soccer field, Joel enjoys hiking Virginia’s scenic trails with his cat, JiJi, playing guitar, and rewatching episodes of The Office. His love of language, nature, and humor helps him connect with students in meaningful ways, creating a learning environment that is both rigorous and welcoming.
