Mike Drude joined Miller School of Albemarle in 2017 as the 14th Head of School. Mike is the youngest of five kids and was born and raised in Simsbury, Connecticut. Mike earned his B.A. from Assumption College where he studied mathematics. Mike’s original plan was to put his math degree to work at one of the big Hartford, Connecticut insurance companies. He did just that by landing a job at Cigna Healthcare as a Business Analyst, but it wasn’t long until Mike was drawn away to a career in teaching and coaching.
Mike began his independent school journey as a math teacher and football coach at The Harvey School in Katonah, NY where he spent 20 years in various roles. Mike’s most recent role prior to joining Miller, was Assistant Head of School for Finance and Operations where he enjoyed managing the school’s budget, directing the strategic plan, and running much of the day-to-day school operations.
While at Harvey, Mike earned his M.B.A from Fordham University.
Mike enjoys living on the MSA campus with his wife June, three kids, and George, their black Labrador Retriever. Mike and June's son, Matthew is a graduate of MSA. He currently is a sophomore at James Madison University. Their daughter, Lily, is a senior at MSA. Macy is a junior at Clark University in Worcester, MA where she is studying international relations and theater.
When he’s not working for or thinking about Miller, Drude enjoys spending time with his family. In particular, during the summer months, the family enjoys boating and fishing along the Rhode Island shoreline where they have a summer home.
