Jay is an award-winning poet, fiction and nonfiction writer, whose work has appeared in the United States, Ireland, England, Sweden, and France. Winner of the Andrew Grossbardt Memorial Prize (from Brandeis University), his work has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best New American Voices, among other awards. Recent work has appeared in The Writer’s Chronicle, Lumina, Upstreet, Storyglossia, Gulf Stream, CutBank, Mid-American Review, the Doire Press International Chapbook Competition Anthology, and elsewhere. He has been Writer-in-Residence at Randolph College, and Konstepidemin (in Gothenburg, Sweden), and has taught at Randolph College, Vermont College, Göteborgs Stadsbibliotek, WriterHouse, and University of Virginia. He has also been a jazz drummer and competitive swimmer.
