Dounia Lazreq
Co-Chair of Math Department
Cross Country and Track Coach
B.S. The George Washington University
M.A. The University of Virginia
A native Virginian, Dounia Lazreq attended The George Washington University in D.C. where she majored in pure mathematics and completed original published research in the fields of combinatorics and linear algebra. She completed a Masters in Mathematics at The University of Virginia where she taught sections of Calculus and Introduction to Proofs. Currently, she teaches AP Calculus AB & BC and Linear Algebra, and strives to make her classroom a fun and welcoming space where students can get excited about learning hard math.
A self-proclaimed “Renaissance Woman”, Dounia feels deeply connected to the school’s mission of Mind, Hands, Heart, and the interdisciplinary approach that Miller takes to educating its students as whole people. Her favorite part of her job is connecting with students on more than just math. She coaches cross country and track, and participates herself in local races to continue experience being an athlete. She has organized the Great Miller Bake Off where students compete to make the most impressive (and delicious!) cake creation, and has twice served as a chaperone for the school’s annual trip to Harvard Model Congress in Boston. Dounia’s sister was a boarding student at Miller, allowing her a unique glimpse into student life on the hill.
Dounia lives on campus with her husband David, their dog Orion, and their cat Bagel Bite. In her free time she enjoys reading, running, going on hikes with Orion, and finding some new British reality tv to sink her teeth into.
