B.A. Dickinson College
M. Ed. University of Virginia English Education
Anne returned to the area in the summer of 2021. She joined Miller in December 2021 and began teaching ninth grade English and monitoring Study Hall for the spring semester. She is happy to return to teach tenth grade English this year.
She graduated with a B.A. in English and Fine Art from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA in 1978, and an M.Ed. in English Education from the University of Virginia in 1988. Over the years, she has taught at Fluvanna County High School, Piedmont Virginia Community College, Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell, MT, and seven years of international teaching: one year in Cairo, Egypt and six years in San Salvador, El Salvador. During the pandemic, Anne had the wonderful opportunity to create her own school for one year in a cabin on ten acres for grades one, two, and five. This experience made her reflect on all the essential components of a school. Anne attended the Central Virginia Writing Project (part of the National Writing Project) at UVA for two summer sessions. She attended Pacific Lutheran University’s AP program to become certified to teach AP English Language and AP Literature. She taught AP Language for four years in San Salvador. In March 2020, she completed her 200 hour yoga certification through Yoga Alliance. She looks forward to teaching yoga at Miller for the afternoon programming of the winter session. She is currently an assistant girls’ tennis coach at Miller.
In her free time, Anne enjoys reading, writing, spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, photography, stand up paddle boarding, cross country skiing, yoga, and cooking. Anne grew up in Wilton, CT., and she appreciates her New England roots. She’s also very much a Montanan.
