Amanda “Dettey” Audette grew up in a large coastal town in the southern part of Massachusetts where she fell in love with the ocean and maritime hobbies like sailing and kayaking. Her undergraduate years took her to the central part of the state where she attended College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. She was a Residential Assistant, played Division I Softball, and earned a Bachelors of Arts in History and Religious Studies. In 2017, while researching, writing, and publishing articles and book reviews, Dettey also completed her Masters of Arts in Modern European History and United States History at Providence College.

Dettey has been teaching and living on boarding school campuses for over a decade and is looking forward to making Miller her new home. Her free time is spent going on adventures and cooking dinners with her husband Zachary.

Overall, a driving force behind Dettey becoming a teacher and a key facet of her approach to education is leading by example. She plans on being a lifelong learner. As a result, she hopes her passion for learning and the love she has for her courses lifts the historical events and ideas off the pages of the textbook. She wants students excited as they experience people, events, and ideas of the past and allow their journey through history to impact their future.
