Seniors Shine
On the Thursday before spring break, the upper soccer field buzzed with the sound of spring. Birds chirped and insects circled on the first seventy-degree afternoon of the year. Old Main was particularly glorious to view as bright spring colors on blossoming trees filled grassy fields surrounding our iconic building. While the beauty of spring was awe-inspiring, the girls soccer team shinned brightest this particular afternoon.
Led by a remarkable group of seniors, the Mavericks defeated BRCS 2-0 in their first match of the season. Captains Isa Crisler and Sophia Evans controlled the pitch. While it was the first game of the season, the team demonstrated maturity and talent that usually is not seen until later in the season.
The strong group of seniors including Chloe Sable, Khue Phan, Lily Drude, Jana Kamawa, Luna Garcia Yensenem, Hailey Frescoln, Isa Crisler, and Sophia Evans, played some of the most impressive soccer ever seen on the Hill.
While the 2020 season concluded that warm afternoon, the seniors certainly encouraged our students to shine as concerned leaders and devoted team players.
