Coach Billy Wagner elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Coach Billy Wagner was elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday, January 21. The seven-time All-Star began coaching at Miller School shortly after he retired from the Major Leagues in 2010. He has led the team to state championships and sent numerous Miller School athletes to the Major Leagues.

Wagner is a former left-handed Major League Baseball pitcher. One of the most unique pitchers in the history of baseball, he combined a deceptive delivery with a 95-100 MPH fastball. He pitched for the Houston Astros (1995–2003), the Philadelphia Phillies (2004–2005), the New York Mets (2006–2009), the Boston Red Sox (2009), and the Atlanta Braves (2010).

His career highlights include being named the National League Rolaids Relief Man of the Year in 1999, and making the National League All Star roster seven times. Playing for the Atlanta Braves on June 25, 2010, Billy earned his 400th Career Save, making him just the 5th player in baseball history to reach this plateau.

His eldest son, Will Wagner, is a Miller School graduate and currently plays in the Major Leagues for the Toronto Blue Jays. The Miller School baseball program has regularly sent players to Division 1 colleges to play and has had a remarkable number of alumni go on to be drafted to the Major Leagues.
