Girls Lacrosse Makes History
MSA’s first Girls Lacrosse Team made history on Thursday night. The team won its first game at home against Chatham Hall. With a large crowd of student, parents, and faculty watching from the hillside above the newly designed field, the Mavericks scored thirteen goals.
Goalie Mackenzie Jennings protected her cage with a 58.3% of saves to goals ratio and impressively had two ground ball wins. Leading scorers included: Sophie Hutton (5), Morgan Parsons (4), Anna Snoddy (2), India Wyatt (1), and Veronica Roots (1).
Coach Kim Parsons commented:
“With this being our first year as a program and this being our first game of the year, we were very excited to not only win but to have every player contribute to the win. As a complete team, we started our season with practices formally beginning only 3 days ago.”
Based on the team’s performance, it appeared the girls had been playing together for much longer than a few days.
“It’s easy coaching players who want to play, are good teammates, and are having fun.”
Coach Kim concluded: “It was great to see such a great turn out of all those who helped us start the program. I am grateful to our fans parents, students, faculty, and staff.”
