State of the School
On Friday night of Family & Friends Weekend, MSA’s Chair of the Board of Trustees, Mark Krebs, and key school administrators delivered the annual State of the School to an audience of students, families, and board members. Head of School, J. Michael Drude, remarked: “We have a great story to tell. By all measures, the state of the school is strong.”
In its 142nd year, MSA’s mission-focused program has led to success in all aspects of the school. From enrollment and fundraising to college placement and student success, MSA is producing remarkable outcomes. “Educating the whole person has always been at the heart of our program. Schools should be used to improve people’s lives,” remarked Mr. Drude.
Mr. Drude discussed the history of MSA and its original curriculum. Specifically, he emphasized how MSA has been a school that focuses on “learning by doing” or what we call today “experiential education.” He went on to provide examples of how MSA meets students where they are and provides them opportunities to pursue their passions and build upon their strengths.
Mr. Drude then discussed MSA’s 5-Year Strategic Road Map. He remarked: “Every school needs a plan. We have identified five areas where we need to be best in class for our students as we move towards the future.”
Key administrators discussed the current initiatives and future plans for their departments.
