Back to School
Students and families returned to the Hill this week. They were welcomed with an abundance of events, adventurous trips, and on-campus exploration. The week began with an all-school picnic and party in the Bull Ring on Sunday afternoon.
Over 300 students and families joined MSA’s faculty and staff for the lively welcome-back celebration. In addition to introducing families to all teachers and dorm staff, the evening included live bluegrass music, yard games, and moon bounces for faculty children. MSA’s Parents Auxiliary led by Eliza Holland and Karin Eanes organized a silent auction.
The event was organized by MSA’s Director of Campus Life and Student Experience, Hattie Francis, as well as Assistant Head of School, Sam Hale. Sage Dining served over 350 dinners to happy students, faculty, and families.
On Monday and Tuesday, students participated in a wide range of local trips and on-campus events, including a field trip to the Frontier Culture Museum, the historic Michie Tavern down the road from Jefferson’s Monticello, and Lake Monocan near Wintergreen Ski Resort.
The culminating event was a new tradition at MSA—First Last Day. Seniors celebrated the first day of school the way they would traditionally celebrate the last day of school by painting the Senior Rock and having a dinner as a class in the Bistro.
