MSA's Poetry Out Loud competition was held Wednesday, December 4 in the Chapel. Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program that encourages the study of great poetry. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life. Poetry Out Loud is a partnership of the National Endowment for the Art.

Prior to the competition, every student at MSA memorized and recited a poem in English class. The top scoring students from each grade had the option to recite their poems in front of the entire student body. Each was judged on accuracy, dramatic appropriateness, voice articulation, and physical presence.
