Thank a Donor Day

Students write letters to donors thanking them for their support.

Article by Clara McKnight, Miller School Student and Development Office Student Intern

Thank a Donor Day was commemorated at the Miller School today, which reminded students just how much donors give to our community on The Hill. I connected with the past as I learned about different ways donors influenced my daily life and celebrated the current effect donors continue to have.

The student body had the opportunity to write thank-you postcards to show appreciation for the generous donors whose support creates numerous possibilities for current students. Throughout the morning, thankfulness and excitement filled the halls. We enjoyed yummy cookies and hot chocolate and had the chance to participate in fun activities like the selfie station.

We could take pictures with friends surrounded by balloons, pompoms, foam fingers, and "thank you" signs. Posting photos and tagging the Miller School entered students to win Miller swag.

There was also the chance to participate in a scavenger hunt, allowing students to explore Miller's campus, where items funded by donors were marked with a balloon and a card reading, "Donors Did That." My favorite items in the scavenger hunt were the tractor for the farm and Bob Robert’s tray, which honored his significant contributions to the funding of the Alumni Gym and Alumni Lake. If you found at least 10 “Donors Did That” items, you could enter another time to win some Miller swag.

Thank you so much to Miller's donors, alumni, parents, and friends for their generous support over the years in making Miller more than a school but a home!
