Mavericks Fly Through Quarterfinals

Flying through the Quarterfinals of the 2023 VISAA State Tournament.

MSA hosted the quarterfinals of the VISAA State Basketball tournament on Wednesday night. Alumni Gym was packed with fans and students cheering on the Mavericks as they begin their pursuit of a state title.

After an impressive BRAC tournament, the Lady Mavs started the VISAA tournament with confidence against local rival Covenant School. They defeated the Eagles 70-35 in front of a home crowd and now head to the VISAA Final Four on Friday.

The boys team took the court after watching the girls put on an impressive show against Covenant. They picked up right where the girls left off and defeated Norfolk Collegiate 60-54 in an exciting game. Austin Ball led the team in scoring with 21 points. Eli Delaurier had 19 points. The boys play in the Final Four against Hargrave on Friday night at 5:30.
