Vicki Laub teaches Spanish and coaches boys soccer.

What are your primary roles at MSA?

I am a Spanish teacher, advisor,  and Boys assistant Soccer coach.

What made you decide to live and work on the Hill?

I wanted to work in a Co-ed high school which is both boarding and day. I have worked in a variety of schools, but Miller is a unique environment. Students learn and thrive in a comfortable learning setting.

Most memorable teaching, coaching, or student-life experience?

One of the more rewarding experiences that I have encountered is when students graduate and come back and visit to tell me that they have majored in Spanish at the university level. Oftentimes I receive letters from former students who thank me about how valuable their learning experience was and how much it meant and how they were inspired to continue on with language as a career.

If you were not an educator, what would you be?

Pet detective. I love animals and enjoy taking care of them.

Favorite aspect of working at a boarding school?

Getting to know all students who live here 24/7. The many countries they come from and hearing about their families and different cultures.

Most memorable lesson learned from students at MSA?

Always have candy and listen when they speak.

Each person brings something different to the table and has something to offer.

Favorite place to go or thing to do on MSA’s 1,600-acre campus?

Walking the beautiful trails and going to the farm. I love coming to school early and watching the sunrise.

Movie you have watched the most times in your life?

Wizard of Oz

Dream trip?

Chile,  Patagonia, South America

Pets?

2 dogs- Jack Russell- Murphy , Yellow Labrador-Carter

What did you want to do when you grew up (when you were in high school)?

I wanted to travel and see as many places as possible. I have been to Europe, Caribbean, Mexico, as well as several countries in Central and South America.

I’m a believer in the old adage, “The world is a great book, of which those who never leave home read but a page.”
