Miller School of Albemarle hosted round one of the VAHS MTB Series on Saturday, April 16. A record number of racers participated in the mountain bike race. In total, 550 racers in categories ranging from elementary school to varsity high school raced on MSA’s 3.6-mile mountain bike race course.

Mountain biking is one of the fastest growing interscholastic sports in Virginia. It is becoming common for high schools and middle schools to add mountain biking to their athletic offerings. In the Charlottesville area, every public school now has a mountain bike team.

Miller School was motivated to start the season with a win on its home trails. The team succeeded in winning the team overall as well as individual victories in Varsity Boys, Varsity Girls, and JV Boys.

The next race is Saturday, April 23 in Mt. Solon Virginia at Stokesville Campground.
