Garrett Klingel ‘03 on the historic Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Garrett grew up in Charlottesville and transferred to Miller his junior year for basketball. He attended two years of undergrad at the University of Tampa before transferring to the business school and earning a major in Business Administration at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Garrett moved back to Charlottesville in 2010 and began a career in broadcasting at The Charlottesville Radio Group. In the nine years he has been with C’ville Radio Group, Garrett moved from sales and marketing to his current management position as the Sales Manager for all six radio stations and the group’s digital advertising program.

One of the very first businesses Garret worked with was, wait for it, the Miller School! He says this was a great way to reconnect with MSA. Even in high level management, he still works one-on-one with the school helping to shape MSA’s marketing in the Charlottesville area. His favorite part is meeting a handful of new students each year and seeing how impressive the talent level is at MSA. In fact, some of the students Garrett has met and interviewed as 8th and 9th graders, he interviewed again as seniors heading off to college and said this is really neat to see their progression over the years at MSA. Garrett loves Charlottesville and owns a home in the downtown area where he loves seeing live music as often as possible (when we’re not in a global pandemic!). You can also find him attending UVA sporting events, traveling as much as possible, and spending time at the Chesapeake Bay with his golden retriever, Jessie.
