¡Enhorabuena!
¡Enhorabuena! Congratulations to Lucas Mariutti, Rheannon Loth, Jordan Melis, Lucas Adam, Kayleigh Creammer, Teemu Tumaoff, André Campos, Krystal Zhu, Kennedy Johnson and Kelby Hanson for attaining national recognition for excellent performance on the 2018 National Spanish Examinations.
“Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 150,000 students participating in 2018.”
Students from Miller School have a history of high achievement on these exams. The National Spanish Examinations are offered each year and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). In addition to receiving medals, students who place in the 75th percentile or above become eligible for college scholarships and travel stipends to study Spanish abroad. One student per school is chosen to compete in each award category at the national level.
Special recognition is given to the following students whose 2018 National Spanish Examination scores qualify them for AATSP awards and scholarships:
Lucas Mariutti (rising senior) - Senior Scholarship (2018) $1,000-2,000
Rheannon Loth (rising junior) - Junior Study Abroad Scholarship (2019)
Jordan Melis (rising junior) - Junior Study Abroad Scholarship (2019)
André Campos (rising junior) - Junior Study Abroad Scholarship (2019)
