Poetry Out Loud Recitation Competition
MSA's Poetry Out Loud competition was held Wednesday, December 6 in the Chapel. Local poet and writing teacher, Patricia Asuncion, spoke to the students prior to the recitations about her poetry and the power of rhythm and beat in writing and reciting. She then recited her most recent poem.
Prior to the competition, every student at MSA memorized and recited a poem in English class. The top four students from each grade had the option to recite their poems in front of the entire student body. Each was judged on accuracy, dramatic appropriateness, voice articulation, and physical presence.
Sicily Hawley-Hayes won the school competition. Rheannon Loth was runner-up. Tied for third place were Savannah Shao and Brenden Miller.
