B.A., Bridgewater College

P.G.T.L., Mary Baldwin College

Sharon is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Bridgewater College in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Earning a B.A. in Studio Art, her electives included courses in education, psychology, music, and drama, plus she completed an internship in adaptive recreation at a rehabilitation center.

Following graduation, Sharon worked with elderly and disabled adults as an activities director in residential care facilities. After taking some time off to raise her two sons, she went back to school to earn her state teaching license in Art K-12. She worked in a large, multicultural elementary school for seven years before joining the Miller faculty in 1999.

Some of Sharon’s former students are now successful illustrators, landscape architects, and fashion designers, and she still enjoys helping new MSA students gain skills and confidence in their artistic abilities.
