Class of 1996
Sal Altieri ’96 stopped by MSA on March 16. He owns a construction company in Florida.

Class of 2001
We saw Trey Duncan at the funeral of former woodshop teacher Capt. Miles Everard. Trey is currently working with the Mary Baldwin College police department.

We recently had lunch with Heidi Swan who is a nurse practitioner in Nelson County. She has office hours in Arrington for 30 hours each week and does 10 hours of home visits, too. She recently had a baby girl.

Class of 2004
Farouk Chatman called the school recently. After graduating from the University of Rochester with a degree in biochemistry, he entered a PhD program at the University of Richmond, although he has now switched to George Mason University. While in college, Farouk was on the crew team, rowing down the often icy Genesee River. Later, he got into power lifting and once lifted 800 lbs.

Class of 2005
Brittany Goldman graduated from Bridgewater College with a B.A. in Nutrition and Wellness. She is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with DaVita Kidney Care at Dominion Hospital in Winchester, VA.

We talked to Justin Haden who has completed his undergraduate degree in Austin, Texas. He has been accepted to a Master’s program at the famous Cordon bleu cooking school in Paris, France. He will study there for three years on a full scholarship. About 18 months ago, Justin had an accident that left him fully paralyzed for six months. After a year of therapy and rehabilitation, he reports that he is fully recovered.

Meredith (Malone) Martin graduated from Randolph Macon College with a B.A. in Psychology. She serves as Director of Development – Heart Ball (American Heart Association/American Stroke Association) in Glen Allen, VA.

Class of 2007
Erika Altenhofen graduated from Oregon State University with a B.A. in Interior Design. She is now working at Design Associate at Neil Kelly Company in Portland, Oregon.

Max Hensley graduated from The University of Virginia with a B.A. in Mechanical Engineering and Chinese. He works as a Design Engineer at Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems in New York City.

Hunter Johnson ’07 graduated from The University of Virginia with a B.A. in Environmental Science. He works for Plainpicture, Inc. (Photography) in New York City.

Sarah Kim graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in Public Policy. She worked as a Project Manager for Nonprofit CMS in Washington, DC for two years.  Sarah has now returned to Korea and is a student at Hanyang University School of Law working toward her law degree Class of 2008.

Lindsay Adams graduated from Auburn with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies, Zoology and Psychology. She also recently graduated from Digital Animation and Visual Effects School at the Orlando Science Center. Lindsay now works as a 3D/2D Generalist at Special VFR Productions and Animations in Debary, Florida.

Jamie Fleming ’08 is volunteering as an Assistant Coach for girls varsity basketball and serves on a supervisory Duty Team at MSA.  Jamie earned her B.A. from Liberty University. She is currently working for National Optronics in Charlottesville and Target (in her spare time).

Kayla Hansen graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in Political Science.   She serves as Director of Mercury in Sacramento, CA, a non-profit philanthropic organization.

Lily Hufnagel stopped by MSA on March 22. She graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design and now has an acrobatic act, “Topsy Turvy,” that she performs with the circus and separately. She is hopeful of performing at MSA next fall.

Kane Kashouty graduated from University of Mary Washington with a B.A. in English and Journalism. He now works as English Teacher/Yearbook Editor at Madison County High School.

Albert Kang graduated from University of Nevada Las Vegas with a B.A. in Hospitality Administration and Management After a stint at the American-Asian Hotel in Washington, DC, Albert is the Manager of In-Room Service at a hotel in Las Vegas.

Tim White graduated from James Madison University with a B.A. in Business, Administration and Finance; he received his MBA in Real Estate Finance and Development from Georgetown University. He works as an Associate at Insight Property Group LLC in Washington, DC.

Class of 2009
Jason Farbstein graduated from Wabash College with a B.A. in Psychology and is currently pursuing a nursing degree at Marymount College. He works as an EMT with Life Care Medical Transports.

Carly Sable graduated from Davis & Elkins College, where she also played basketball. Carly is living and working in New York City managing a comedy club.

Ye Rim “Sophia” Shin graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a B.A. in Illustration. She works at UX/UI Designer at Vidimap in South Korea.  She is also a freelance illustrator.

Xiaoan Liu graduated from Ohio State University and works as an international Business Manager at Shanghai Nuobang Bio-technology Co.

Whitney Martin ’10 graduated from North Carolina A & T and now works for their Sports Information Department.

Ji Hyun “Sarah” Min graduated from Washington and Lee University (Johnson Scholar) with a B.A. in Accounting and Business with Special Attainments in Commerce. She works for Risk Assurance Associate at Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Washington, DC.

Nikko Ooi stopped by MSA with Sarah. She graduated from university in Australia and works as a nurse at a hospital in Melbourne.

Laura Sullivan graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in elementary education. This year she is completing a Master’s in Special Education at the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia. Laura was the speaker at this year’s Senior Dinner.

Subira Uvalieva graduated from Penn State University and works as a service coordinator at Pennsylvania Health Management: Support Coordination Group.

Class of 2011
Ashley Bowles, a graduate of Davis & Elkins College, was just hired as a staff member at Charlottesville City Clerk’s office.

Jingyi “Cindy” Dong graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. with Honors in Nursing. She works as a nurse clinical researcher at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA.

Yichao Fan graduated from the University of Waterloo in Canada and works in finance at Goodyear Tire – Canada.

Kane Kashouty graduated from University of Mary Washington with a B.A. in English and Journalism. He now works as English Teacher/Yearbook Editor at Madison County High School.

Shuo Son ’11 graduated from University of Virginia-Engineering and works as a sales engineer at Hewlett-Packard.

Class of 2012
Ashleigh Claybrooks ’12 graduated from University of Maryland at Eastern Shore with a B.A. in Social Sciences and Sociology. She works as Assistant Program Manager for Typical Life Corporation (Social Work) in Pennsylvania.

Chase Cannon graduated from North Carolina State in three years as Summa Cum Laude and Valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and a Spanish minor. He finished his final year of NCAA eligibility with the basketball team and is enrolled in an MBA program there. Chase is spending the summer 2016 as a Strategic Sourcing Event Manager intern at Quintiles in Durham, NC.

Class of 2013
Angelique Detender has transferred from the College of Charleston to the Université de Paris.

Travis Hester has transferred to Rogers State University and on is the basketball team.

Elias Hubard is at Syracuse University. He is again in the Battle Frog National Championship March 17-19; the competition was slated to be broadcast on ESPN in June.

Class of 2014
Zoe Evans has just completed her sophomore year at Sewanee – The University of the South pursuing a B.A. in International and Global Studies. Zoe was on the Dean’s List for the spring 2016 Semester and just traveled to Uganda with Sewanee Group for a Gender Inequality Field Study.  Upon her return Zoe started as an Admissions Office Summer Intern at Sewanee.

Class of 2015
Congratulations to Mike Daly who was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year as a pitcher for VCU. Mike was also named as a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team member.

Connor Gillespie ’16 will join Mike and the VCU Rams pitching staff next fall.

Rachel Odumu is transferring from Monmouth University to the University of Hawaii on a full athletic scholarship.

She will join Adrian Darden, who is already there on the basketball team.

It was great to see Connor Schroeder and Harrison Brown who stopped by MSA as soon as they finished their first year in college. Connor is transferring to Lynchburg College from The Citadel because he misses his family who lives in Blacksburg. Harrison had a great Year at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania. Both played basketball for their colleges this year.
